Dental hygienist (Dip Dent Hyg RCS (Eng) 2011)
Ms Yana Ariyanayagam is a graduate of Eastman Dental Institute, where she was awarded for best research project with her work on ‘Stroke & Dental Health’.
Prior to her degree at the Eastman she was an award winning journalist working at the BBC.
Since graduating, she has been working in a specialist dental practice alongside a periodontist. She treats patients with advanced gum disease providing individually tailored periodontal therapy including subgingival debridement under local anaesthesia and specific oral hygiene instruction. She is committed to improving every aspect of her patient’s oral and general health.
She is happy to be part of charity work related to dentistry and has joined Dentaid for projects in both the UK and in Nepal. In her spare time she enjoys mountain climbing and running. She has run the London Marathon several times for selected charities.
Ms Ariyanayagam is happy to take referrals for hygiene treatments from dentists and also welcomes patients who come through ‘direct access’ without the need of a dentist’s referral.
She is a member of the British Dental Hygienist and Therapist Association and regularly attends courses and lectures around the UK.
